Erik M. Tikkanen
Erik Tikkanen advises clients on domestic and cross-border corporate and commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, startup companies, private placements, corporate reorganizations, and the formation and operation of corporations, limited liability companies and other legal entities on behalf of domestic and foreign individual and corporate investors. He also drafts, reviews and advised on complex commercial contracts and researches and advises on compliance issues under US federal and state laws relevant to domestic and foreign businesses doing business in the United States of America.
Erik’s prior experience includes representing Fortune 500 clients in state and federal litigation matters, working on German corporate matters at a German law firm in Frankfurt, and assisting in the prosecution of fraud and business regulation violations at the San Francisco District Attorney’s Special Operations Division. Before attending law school, Erik worked for two years as a paralegal at an international law firm in California.
Erik is a fluent German speaker, having studied the language intensively during undergraduate studies, including an exchange year at Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen, Germany. During law school, he focused on American and German corporate law and was again an exchange student at Freie Universität Berlin. Erik continues to maintain close ties with German culture.
Erik is an active member of the New York City Bar Association’s Emerging Companies Committee, focusing current issues facing startup companies and their investors.
